DAY 2 | Sept. 14, 2018 | REYKJAVIK - WESTMAN ISLANDS (B/D)
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. Then start the day by driving the South coast and noting the numerous glacial rivers on route to Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss waterfalls. The spectacular beauty of the Westman Islands has to be seen to be believed. This tour is your chance to experience the stunning landscape, dramatic volcanic history and rich birdlife of a remote island paradise.

We travel along the south coast to Landeyjahofn harbor. After arriving at the pier at Bakkafjara we take a 30 minute ferry ride to the Westman Islands. Once there, we will explore Heimaey, the largest island in the Westman Islands archipelago. Other adventures of the day include a visit to Storhofdi Bird Cliff, a walk up to the crater of a volcano that erupted only three decades ago, visiting Eldheimar Museum and exploring flora of the new lava field.

In the afternoon we take a boat tour from the historic Heimaey harbor, which was almost lost during the volcanic eruption in 1973. The boat tour gives us a look at colorful ocean caves, the newly formed volcanic island of Surtsey and other islands of Westman Islands, and the lava coastline with its deep bird cliffs. Observe a variety of seabird and occasionally whales. Our trip ends by sailing into the Cliff Cave near the harbor, where you will hear the sound of an instrumental music and enjoy the unique acoustic in this cave. Dinner at the hotel.

Overnight at Hotel Vestmannaeyjar or similar.

DAY 3 | Sept. 15, 2018 | SOUTH SHORE - GLACIER LAGOON (B/L)
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and check out.

We take the ferry back from the Westman Islands in the morning and travel further on along the south shore. The South Shore is one of the most popular region of Iceland for a number of reasons: The stone arch Dyrhólaey with its sheer cliffs; The picturesque setting of Vík village; A row of glaciers towering over the scenery and the Reynisdrangar rock pillars (some say they are petrified trolls) decorating the black beach of Reynihverfi. We cross Eldhraun, the largest mass of lava ever to flow on the face of the Earth before reaching the small town Kirkjubaejarklaustur, a former site of a 12th-century Catholic convent.

We head onwards to Skaftafell, part of Vatnajökull National Park, one of Iceland's most outstanding areas of natural beauty and continue to the stunning Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon to see floating icebergs and possibly curious seals. Throughout the day we are afforded magnificent views of the mighty Vatnajökull Glacier. At the end of the day we head to our accommodations on the South coast.

Overnight at Icelandair Hotel Klaustur or similar.

DAY 4 | Sept. 16, 2018 | GULLFOSS - GEYSIR - THINGVELLIR - REYKJAVIK (B/L)
On our way back to Reykjavík we will explore the Golden Circle area. We will make a lunch stop at the family run Friðheimar greenhouse cultivation centre, where we learn about the magic behind growing delicious, pesticide-free tomatoes and cucumbers with the aid of the geothermal heat that Iceland has in abundance. An unbelievable fact that few people know is that Iceland is the only country in the world where tomatoes are grown the whole year around. In addition to the beautiful greenhouse center the family also runs a horse breeding farm, where you can visit the stables, pet the horses and get an introduction on the different gaits of the Icelandic horse.

Onwards we travel to Gullfoss one of Iceland’s most impressive waterfalls in Europe with thousands of tons of icy water thundering majestically into a deep canyon. We head for the Geysir hot spring area, with numerous hot springs, fumeroles and geysers, including the 30 meter spouting world known Strokkur, a hot spring that spouts every few minutes.

Our next stop is Thingvellir National Park, a remarkable geological and a historic site as well as it is the site of the world's oldest democratic parliament founded in 930 and the beautiful canyon running through the park is actually the dividing faultline between two of the earth’s tectonic plates. At the end of the day we head to your hotel in Reykjavík.

Overnight at Grand Hotel Reykjavik or similar.

DAY 5 | Sept. 17, 2018 | SAEFELLSNES PENINSULA (B/L)
Enjoy breakfast at the hotel. Today we will visit the beautiful west of Iceland and Iceland's youngest National Park: Snæfellsnes Peninsula. You will begin by driving the south coast of the peninsula to Arnarstapi with its magnificent columnar basalt rock formations. Circle around the legendary Snæfellsjökull glacier, which covers a central volcano. The tour continues north around the fishing villages and ends in the colorful town of Stykkishólmur.

Snæfellsnes is a unique area with variety of geological interests such as lava fields, volcanoes, glacier, beautiful rock formations, yellow and black sand beaches and caves apart from a very interesting bird life. Return to Reykjavik.
